Thank you Team Michael Toy Drive 2023

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Team Michael Toy Drive this year, in honor of Michael’s 18th Birthday. We are so grateful to our wonderful community of family and friends who remember Michael each year by helping these precious, brave children who are fighting cancer.

With love and hope,

11th Annual Team Michael Toy Drive 2023

11th Annual Team Michael Toy Drive 2023

In memory of Michael Malone, on his 18th Birthday, Team Michael and Children’s Cancer Fund present the 11th Annual Team Michael Toy Drive, benefiting the oncology patients at Dallas Children’s and Cook Children’s. This year we are asking for toys and Amazon gift card donations between now and May 10th. The smallest donation will still make a huge difference. Just like in prior years, we will make the deliveries to the hospitals immediately following May 10th.

This year we have created an online Amazon wish list to make things easier.

If you plan to shop outside of Amazon, here is a list from the two hospitals: art supplies, craft kits, play dough sets, games, over-the-door basketball hoops, character playsets, model magic sets, STEM activities (magnet building and slime kits), and ALL size Legos (Marvel-themed is the most requested). Toys can be mailed to 3905 Hanover, Dallas, 75225.

These patients need things they can play with, in bed or inside their hospital rooms, especially during this time. Hospitals are limiting the number of people who can visit, especially those who are undergoing treatments that suppress their immune systems. Crafts, games, and toys have never been more essential for these brave young boys and girls. Our goal is to fill the hospitals’ pediatric cancer prize closets with special gifts for the rest of the year.

Thank you for all you have done and will do. Your donations will bring so much joy to these children, and we are eternally grateful for all of your support.

With love and hope,

Team Michael

9th Annual Team Michael Toy Drive 2021

In memory of Michael Malone, on his 16th Birthday, Team Michael presents the 9th Annual Team Michael Toy Drive, benefiting the oncology patients at Dallas Children’s and Cook Children’s. Given all of the ongoing issues with the Covid-19, we have decided not to host our traditional block party celebration. However, the need has never been greater. So this year we are asking for toys and Amazon gift card donations between now and June 7th. The smallest donation will still make a huge difference. Just like in prior years, we will make the deliveries to the hospitals immediately following June 7th.

Christmas Toy Drive 2020

Foster spearheaded a toy drive in honor of Michael, and raised $3,000 of toys for these kids who are spending the holidays in the hospital. What an amazing young man. We are also so proud to be partnering with Children’s Cancer Fund. We saw two families checking into the hospital today, like we did with Michael in December 2009, knowing that their holidays will never be the same. Proud of Ben and Emory. And wishing any peace these families can find in the next week. Merry Christmas to all of you. And thank you Greg Nieberding for donating the amazing sign!!!

With love and hope,

Team Michael

8th Annual Team Michael Toy Drive 2020

In memory of Michael Malone, on his 15th Birthday, Team Michael presents the 8th Annual Team Michael Toy Drive, benefiting the oncology patients at Dallas Children’s and Cook Children’s. Given all of the ongoing issues with the Covid-19 outbreak, we have decided not to host our traditional block party celebration. However, the need has never been greater. The stress on the children and their families not only dealing with cancer, but now the virus as well, is extraordinary. So this year we are asking for toys and gift card donations between now and June 7th. The smallest donation will still make a huge difference. Just like in prior years, we will make the deliveries to the hospitals immediately following June 7th.

Online gift cards are welcome. Target gift cards are encouraged. If you plan to mail or drop off toys, here is a list from the two hospitals: art supplies, craft kits, video games, play dough sets, games, over the door basketball hoops, character play sets, model magic sets, STEM activities (magnet building and slime kits), and ALL size Legos (Marvel themed the most requested). These patients need things they can play with in bed or inside their hospital rooms, especially during this time.

When these children endure difficult procedures and treatments, their reward is to pick something from a prize closet. Our goal is to fill these prize closets with special gifts for the rest of the year.

We are blocking off the Malone’s street and having fun activities for the children, including a water slide, face painter, glitter tatoo artist and a DJ! Please feel free to pass along this invitation to your friends and family, if they would like to participate.

For those of you that will not be in town or do not live in the Dallas area, you can mail in a Target gift card to the Malones, and we will do the shopping for you!

Any and all toys are welcome. Gift cards are encouraged! They make the best gifts for teenage cancer patients, and we can use them to fill in gaps for toys that are special requests from the hospitals. Think small — things you can play with in a hospital bed.

Thank you so much for helping us continue this very special tradition.

With love and hope,

Team Michael Toy Drive 2018 — Thank you!

Team Michael is proud to congratulate our wonderful family, friends, host committee and community for a record breaking year at the Team Michael Toy Drive. We raised twice as much in donations. $8,700 in gift cards and cash. And easily over $6,000 in toys. A special thank you to Dianne and Mark Ryan, Grant and Karen Richards, and Jamie and Ian Charles for their incredibly generous hearts. We made deliveries to Dallas Children’s and Cook Children’s. And had lots of helpers. Thank you Hallie, Genny, Julie, Elizabeth and Evelyn. We are incredibly touched by every single person who donated, attended and helped out at the event and the hospitals. On behalf of the children we serve, we thank you. Michael would be very proud.

September 6, 2012

Dear Friends and Family,

We would like to thank everyone for the incredible outpouring of support for our family over the past few months. We will never forget the kindness, compassion, generosity and love offered to our family during this tragic time. Michael was a brave and beautiful child, who I think would ask all of us to find our own bravery now. We have found strength in these difficult times by knowing we are not alone in our loss, and that Michael’s memory will be strong among the hundreds, perhaps thousands of people he touched in his seven short years. Michael was our God given gift that we had the honor and privilege to share for those seven years, and we miss him every second of every day.

We have had many requests for the remembrances from Michael’s service, so I have attached my remarks for those of you who did not attend.

We also wanted to let you know about a couple of upcoming events where we plan to honor Michael.

This Sunday, September 9th, one of Michael’s kindergarten classmates, Cade Roseman, is hosting a tennis carnival for children and adults at the JCC from 3pm – 5pm. There will be kids and adult tennis games with prizes, food, music and more. If you would like to join us, you can go to www.wokc.org and click on the Kobe Roseman Tennis Carnival link on the right side of the home page. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Michael Malone Fund at Wipe Out Kids Cancer.

On Saturday, September 22nd, Wipe Out Kids Cancer is having their annual 5K/1K Run, and we have started a Team Michael group. As many of you may recall, Michael ran the entire 1K last year without stopping. That was an incredible day for him, and he talked about it often. If you would like to sign up to run/walk with us, or if you would like to donate, you can go to www.wokc.org and click on the Oktoberfest Run link on the right side of the home page. Be sure to register with “Team Michael Malone,” and if you would like a Team Michael t-shirt, just let us know.

WOKC Team Michael Garage SaleAlso, for those of you in our neighborhood, we are having a long overdue garage sale at our house on Saturday, September 29th, and we are donating all proceeds to the Michael Malone Fund at Wipe Out Kids Cancer. If you have anything you would like to donate to the sale, feel free to contact Alison. Or feel free to stop by that day. I will attach the information sheet in case you want to pass it along to your friends, schools, churches, etc.

The day that we found out Michael’s cancer had relapsed beyond being able to treat him, Alison scheduled a family portrait. Alana McIntyre has been photographing our family since Alison was pregnant with Michael, and she came to our home in May and chronicled what was to be our last family photo session. She sent us a slideshow of those photos, and I thought some of you might enjoy it. The link is below.

Again, we are eternally grateful to all of you for your support, your prayers and your love.
